Once again, a rather obvious choice for this series in fact, I can't imagine even considering a soundtrack to go with my youth without the inclusion of Paul Kossoff's classic opening riff. In the late Sixties and early Seventies, there seemed to be an abundance of great songs, great bands and great record labels and once those three ingredients merged, sparks would inevitably fly. Free were thrown into the limelight at a very young age; a band whose highly soulful sound became known around the world, largely due to the distinctive voice of Paul Rodgers, possibly one of our greatest rock voices, if indeed not the greatest. The version that appeared on the band's third studio album FIRE AND WATER, had an extended guitar solo brilliantly performed by Kossoff, though this was trimmed down for the single version. By 1990, twenty years on from the single's release, All Right Now was recognised by the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) after reportedly being played in access of over a million times on American radio alone.
