Peter Gabriel - Solsbury Hill (Charisma CB 301 - 1977)

After his controversial departure from Genesis in 1975, Peter Gabriel returned with a surprising autobiographical single, which is said to be generally about 'letting go' although, it seems clearly to be a response to his decision to leave the band, which Gabriel had led since its formation in 1967. Little Solsbury Hill is an actual landmark in Somerset, where Gabriel was said to have undergone a 'spiritual experience' whilst sitting on top of the hill. The song was also included on Gabriel's first eponymous LP released in the same year.
