Number 22

Gordon Giltrap - Heartsong (The Electric Recording Company WOT19)

Although the British guitarist Gordon Giltrap never quite achieved the same sort of legendary status as contempories Bert Jansch, Davy Graham and John Renbourn, the musician did manage to reach the dizzying heights of number 21 in the UK charts with his instrumental piece Heart Song, which was subsequently used as the theme tune to the popular British TV show Holiday. Originally recording on the Transatlantic Records label between 1968 and 1971, the guitarist has garnered a strong fan base and is much more at home on stage in front of an attentive audience, where he demonstrates a range of guitar styles both on acoustic and electric guitars, playing inventive instrumental pieces ranging between folk and blues to jazz and with the help of loop pedals, the adventurous pursuits of Prog Rock.
