Jr Walker and the All Stars - Sweet Soul (Tamla Motown TMG637)

Sweet Soul, not to be mistaken for Sweet Soul Music by Arthur Conley, was actually the B side of the 1968 release of Jr Walker and the All Stars Come See About Me and was one of the staple tunes played at Doncaster Top Rank during the thriving soul and Motown nights at the club, despite it being completely instrumental and featuring Walkers distinctive wailing tenor sax. I can’t listen to the record without being transported right back to my youth in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
