The Small Faces played a relatively minor role in my singles collection during my formative years. They pretty much passed me by during their most productive period in the mid to late 1960s, however one single did stand out and therefore took its rightful place in the collection. Itchycoo Park was instantly accessible as a pop song but also the band were unafraid to make best use of the studio by employing the relatively new 'flanging' or 'phasing' effect, Itchycoo Park being one of the first records to be released using the technique. To me though, it’s just a great little pop song.
