The Easybeats - Friday on My Mind (United Artists UP1157 - 1966) 

In the mid-1960s pop music was turning psychedelic by the second, with lots of bands that had previously been beat groups, releasing singles that turned everything on its head, with the introduction of mellotrons, harmoniums and sitars, or in some cases just bending strings in places they had previously never thought to venture, whilst at the same time keeping the songs accessible, melodic and with that all important hook. One such band was Australia's Easybeats, clearly the Antipodean answer to The Beatles, whose big hit of 1966 was Friday on My Mind
