Dave Brubeck Quartet - Take Five (Fontana H339 - 1959)

The earliest recording thus far in this series. Recorded in 1959, a couple of years after my birth, The Dave Brubeck Quartet's Take Five was very much part of the soundtrack to the early 1960s. The infectious little tune, written in 5/4 time by saxophonist Paul Desmond, went on to be the biggest selling jazz record of all time and is still played often on the radio today. The single version is a good deal shorter than the album version, but both versions pack a similar punch to this day.
