Colin Blunstone - Say You Don't Mind (Epic EPC7765 - 1972)

There's something more than just appealing about Christopher Gunning's string arrangement on this version of the Denny Laine song, which suits Blunstone's soulful voice perfectly. Best remembered for his role as singer with the Zombies in the 1960s, the singer carved out a pretty successful solo career in the early 1970s scoring one or two hits, this included, before collaborating with Dave Stewart and the Alan Parsons Project. It will always be this song though that makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck, in a similar manner to The Beatles' Eleanor Rigby.
