The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band - I'm the Urban Spaceman (Liberty LBF 15144 - 1968)

The first time I became aware of the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band was back in the late 1960s when they appeared each week as the resident band on the children's comedy TV show Do Not Adjust Your Set, a weekly programme that would launch the careers of some of the members of the Monty Python team. Neil Innes wrote many of the songs for the band including this novelty song, which was released in 1968, reaching number five in the UK charts. Produced by Paul McCartney under the pseudonym 'Apollo C. Vermouth' and with an equally popular b side Canyons of Your Mind, written by Viv Stanshall, the single went on to win an Ivor Novello Award in the same year.
