The Food Safety and Standard Authority of India, or FSSAI, has complete authority over the Indian food industry. An FSSAI has the power to make all significant decisions about the food industry, overseen by the Indian Government’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

It was formed by the Food and Safety and Standard Act of 2006 (FSS ACT), which oversees the security and control of food across the nation. To avoid applying for a new license when your current one expires, which is a complex procedure, you must renew your food license.

The FBO must confirm their FSSAI license is in good standing before requesting a renewal. They must keep an eye on the FSSAI renewal process since delays will incur harsh fines.

If the food firm’s proprietor misses the renewal date, the FSSAI license will be ruled void. In this instance, the FBO will not be permitted to carry on with its food business activities. Thus, it is essential to keep up with renewing your food license. Furthermore, the FSSAI Renewal online process is more practical than offline.

Here are a few essential things you must know about the FSSAI renewal process:

Procedures: Online/ Offline

  • Offline Process: The offline process is challenging since you must complete three forms (Forms A, B, and C). The self-attested paper must then be attached and delivered to the FSSAI office in your neighborhood.

The authority will review and confirm the renewal application when it is submitted with the necessary supporting documentation. If all goes according to plan, you should receive your license within 30 to 60 days; otherwise, you will receive a notification to correct any errors.

  • Online Process: To apply online, you must first register for an account on the FSSAI website, fill out the form, and upload any necessary supporting documentation. After applying, you must wait for the FSSAI license for at least 30 to 60 days.

The procedure appears to be simple, but it isn’t easy. Because there is a greater likelihood that your FSSAI Renewal application will need to be approved with new documentation, you must seek expert advice to handle such a circumstance.

Time to apply for FSSAI License Renewal

The FBO must apply 180 days before the license(s) expiration or registration certificate. The renewal application cannot be submitted if the license(s) or registration certificate(s) have expired.

Following the license(s) expiration or registration certificate, FBO must submit a new application.

The FBO must pay the renewal payments if the renewal application is processed 30 days before the expiration of the license(s)/registration certificate. Along with the renewal payments, a fine of Rs. One hundred per day will be assessed after the initial 30 days.
